About this project
What this is, and what it isn’t
Vancouver-Clark Disc Golf is, right now, a community history and organizing project. It is not a registered nonprofit, and it doesn’t speak for any agency or existing group.
The original Vancouver-Clark Disc Golf club dissolved years ago. This effort, begun in 2026, has two honest goals:
- Preserve the history. Write down what the club did, when, and with whom, before that knowledge is lost for good.
- Explore what’s next. Figure out, openly, whether a renewed volunteer organization would actually be useful for Clark County disc golf today.
We’re deliberately cautious about language. You’ll see words like “exploring,” “rebuilding,” and “working toward” throughout this site. That’s on purpose: we don’t want to claim a status we haven’t earned or an authority we don’t have.
A respectful continuation, not a takeover
Using the Vancouver-Clark Disc Golf name comes with responsibility. We see this as carrying forward something that mattered locally, not seizing an identity or speaking over the people who built it. If you were part of the original club and have thoughts about how this should work, that input matters and we want it.
Who we hope to work with
As this project grows, we plan to reach out to the people and groups who actually shape disc golf here. These are future conversations; listing them is not a claim of partnership or endorsement:
- The Parks Foundation of Clark County, suggested as a natural organization to coordinate with.
- Local city and county parks departments, the agencies that steward the land courses sit on.
- Stumptown Disc Golf, with one possibility raised being a Vancouver chapter.
- Course regulars and former VCDG members, the people who know these courses best.
